Role and Responsibilities
- Teaching Physical Education and Wellness classes.
- Serving as Head Volleyball Coach with year-round and after-school responsibilities.
- Serving on a grade-level team to support the socioemotional, academic, and intellectual development of students.
- Serving as an Advisor to a small group of students–includes academic coaching, facilitating conversations on social justice and cultural competency, and supporting the development of skills.
- Supporting field learning and outdoor education trips.
- Participating in faculty meetings.
- Collaborating, planning, and facilitating Intensives–two-week-long collaborative, hands-on, and interdisciplinary projects.
- Taking advantage of professional growth opportunities and presenting learning to the community.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications, and Attributes
- Experience teaching Physical Education and Wellness at the appropriate grade levels.
- Coaching experience in volleyball.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- Experience partnering with other educators to create interdisciplinary learning experiences for students.
- Ability to communicate high expectations and standards for student learning and well-being.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to adolescent challenges.
- Ability to think broadly and creatively about student-centered learning.
- Commitment to providing candid and constructive feedback to students.
- Commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion.
- Ability to scope and sequence student learning experiences in collaboration with other faculty.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Arkansas Teaching Certification required.
