Job Summary
The Life Coach at Thaddeus Resource Center plays a pivotal role in the organization's mission to empower girls and women to move from hopelessness to hopefulness. They provide support to clients, establish goals with them, offer feedback, and regularly assess their progress. In this role, they work predominantly with women and families, making a meaningful difference in clients' lives by fostering personal growth and self-sufficiency.
- Volunteer positions are a year-long requirement.
- The volunteer is expected to work a minimum of 5 hours a week, hours based on clients.
- Attendance is required at a 2-hour-long All Staff Meeting on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM PST and a 2-hour-long department meeting on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM PST.
Responsibilities and Duties
Client Support & Guidance (40%)
- Provide emotional and practical support to low-income and homeless women and families by offering guidance, encouragement, and accountability as they navigate personal and professional challenges
- Celebrate individual achievements and milestones while also helping clients remain focused on their personal growth and progress.
- Build supportive relationships centered on trust, empathy, and empowerment.
Goal Development & Progress Monitoring (35%)
- Assist clients in establishing clear and attainable short-term and long-term goals based on their individual aspirations and needs.
- Regularly assess progress, identify setbacks, and collaborate on strategies to overcome obstacles and maintain forward momentum.
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance to support continuous improvement and resilience-building.
Life Skills Coaching & Development (25%)
- Teach coping strategies and resilience-building techniques to help clients manage challenges effectively.
- Support the development of practical life skills, including time management, communication, and decision-making, to promote greater independence, confidence, and long-term stability.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Must currently reside in the U.S. or have prior work experience within the field in the U.S.
2. Experience as a life coach or in counseling.
3. Life coach certification.
4. Possess strong personal integrity and ethical principles.
5. Ability to empathize with clients’ experiences.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
8. Strong active listening skills.
9. Must have appropriate technology, a reliable internet connection, and the ability to function effectively in a virtual environment via Microsoft Teams.
Work Environment
All activities for the Life Coach are conducted via remote access using Microsoft Teams. Volunteers are required to have a computer compatible with this software. Thaddeus makes every effort to hold interactive group meetings to foster communication and teamwork using remote workspaces.
