Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support in various legal matters related to family law. This role requires a strong understanding of legal procedures and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients, schedule appointments, provide updates, and assist with documentation needs
- Open, organize, and maintain case files, track milestones, deadlines, and hearings, and prepare timelines and checklists
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and discovery responses
- Review and organize discovery documents, summarize responses, and conduct preliminary analysis for attorney review
- Conduct legal research on family law statutes, case law, and procedural rules; prepare findings for attorney use
- File documents with the court (electronically or in-person) and ensure timely processing by attending court as needed
- Coordinate court dates, mediation sessions, client meetings, depositions, and witness attendance
- Organize and label trial exhibits, prepare witness lists, and assist with trial logistics and setup
- Enter time entries, manage billing records, and maintain case management systems and databases
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys as needed
Skills
- Strong knowledge of law-related concepts.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting documents and interacting with clients with Microsoft Office.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy in all tasks performed.
- Familiarity with administrative tasks that support the overall operations of a legal practice.
