Position Overview
TGTG is seeking five (5) Switchboard Operators and one (1) Lead Operator to support 24/7 switchboard and emergency dispatch operations at the Northport VA Medical Center. These roles are critical to ensuring all incoming communications, emergency calls, and hospital paging systems operate efficiently and professionally.
Personnel will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and must be capable of handling high call volumes, emergency communications, and sensitive information with professionalism and accuracy.
Work Schedule
- 24/7 coverage required (including weekends and federal holidays)
- Rotating shifts may include:
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
- 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Lead Operator must be flexible across all shifts, including nights and weekends
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate hospital switchboard systems using Cisco Webex and Cisco Finesse
- Answer and route incoming calls within three (3) rings in a professional manner
- Provide accurate call routing to hospital departments, staff, and patient services
- Manage emergency communications including Code Blue, fire alerts, and crisis paging
- Utilize overhead paging, radio systems, and digital paging systems
- Assist with outgoing calls including local, long-distance, and conference calls
- Maintain logs of calls, emergencies, and system activity
- Provide general hospital information (visiting hours, department contacts, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all patient privacy regulations
- Support emergency response procedures and coordinate communications with police, fire, and medical teams
- Maintain continuous coverage and support backup staffing needs
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
