Project Manager – Commercial Construction
Location: Schenectady, NY (Albany area)
Salary: $100,000–$130,000
Note: The company is also open to hiring an Assistant Project Manager with at least 3 years of relevant GC experience. The APM salary range is approximately $80,000–$95,000, depending on experience.
A well-established, full-service commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team in Schenectady, NY. The company offers a collaborative, high-performance environment and delivers projects across a wide range of sectors including industrial, retail, office, distribution, and specialty construction.
Position Summary:
As a Project Manager, you will take ownership of multiple projects from inception through completion. You will coordinate closely with clients, subcontractors, field staff, and internal teams to ensure quality, schedule, and budget goals are met. Projects range from $1M to $35M , with a mix of new builds, additions, and renovations—primarily within a 2-hour radius of the Capital Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day project management activities including planning, scheduling, and budget tracking using MS Project
- Prepare subcontractor contracts and coordinate submittals and procurement
- Interface with field superintendents to ensure efficient job site operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring excellent communication and client satisfaction
- Maintain a proactive approach to resolving issues, mitigating risks, and ensuring project delivery standards
- Manage 1–2 large-scale projects or a portfolio of smaller projects, depending on scope
- Collaborate with estimating, carpentry, earthwork, and metal building divisions as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in commercial general contracting
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout
- Strong scheduling skills; proficient in Microsoft Project
- Experience with plant-spec or public works-type projects is highly preferred
- Ability to work onsite in Schenectady, NY, with occasional travel to job sites
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree not required; practical, hands-on project leadership experience valued
