Position Summary
The Landman II is responsible for working within a Land group and multi-disciplinary development team in support of an active drill program in East Texas.
Key Responsibilities
· Assess title coverage in development program areas and update or obtain new title opinions/reports where needed.
· Review title information and title opinions to identify required curative and prepare summaries of same.
· Direct field brokers in title curative efforts, including leasing, where necessary.
· Review and summarize existing contracts in development areas and identify any gaps in JOA coverage or non-standard agreements/provisions that will have a material impact on Company’s ability to propose new drills.
· Determine working interest percentages of parties having the right to participate in allocation well locations.
· Prepare participation agreements, JOA’s, letter agreements, farmout agreements and similar trade agreements.
· Prepare assignments, releases, amendments, pooling declarations and other similar instruments pertaining to company-operated leases.
· Prepare partial mortgage releases and acreage dedication releases in support of commercial activity.
· Prepare preliminary decks for Pre-Drill AFEs and work with Land Admin/Accounting to set up new properties.
· Obtain interdepartmental input on lease extensions and minor commercial projects
· Prepare weekly updates on title/JOA status in development areas.
· Build and maintain productive relationships with offset operators, third party lease holders, key mineral/surface owners, and internal multi-disciplinary team.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· A minimum of 5 years in-house Land experience.
· Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, energy, or related field
· Experience supporting an active drilling program required
· East Texas experience and familiarity with cross-unit development strongly preferred
· Experience successfully drafting agreements, assignments, releases, etc.
· Aptitude to work independently and as part of a team with limited oversight
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Experience with ArcGIS, Enverus, Quorum QLS and other products a definite plus
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Job is classified as light physical work in an office setting involving sitting, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking and standing.
• Occasionally may be required to lift, carry, push or pull 10-25 pounds.
