Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and various accounting software platforms. Duties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Support internal and external audits through documentation preparation and compliance checks.
- Maintain accurate journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping records, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, LIHTC regulations, securities law, and other regulatory requirements.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for daily operations.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for management review and external reporting purposes.
- Support tax filings and regulatory reporting activities as needed.
- Mentor junior staff members on technical accounting practices and software tools to foster professional development.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, financial concepts, debits & credits, and technical accounting standards.
- Hands-on experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance processes, LIHTC programs, securities law regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial analysis including cash flow analysis.
- Experience in auditing procedures, bank reconciliation processes, payroll management, and budget development is preferred.
- Excellent understanding of private equity concepts or corporate finance is a plus.
