Accountant

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and various accounting software platforms. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting both corporate and non-profit accounting functions, with responsibilities spanning from financial statement preparation to auditing and financial analysis. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent analytical skills, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to interpret complex financial data to support strategic decision-making.

Duties

• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Support internal and external audits through documentation preparation and compliance checks.
• Maintain accurate journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping records, and account reconciliation procedures.
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls, LIHTC regulations, securities law, and other regulatory requirements.
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for daily operations.
• Prepare detailed financial reports for management review and external reporting purposes.
• Support tax filings and regulatory reporting activities as needed.
• Mentor junior staff members on technical accounting practices and software tools to foster professional development.

Experience

• Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting environments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, financial concepts, debits & credits, and technical accounting standards.
• Hands-on experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance processes, LIHTC programs, securities law regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial analysis including cash flow analysis.
• Experience in auditing procedures, bank reconciliation processes, payroll management, and budget development is preferred.
• Excellent understanding of private equity concepts or corporate finance is a plus.
