About the Role
The Commercial Portfolio Officer serves as a key credit leader within the commercial lending team, responsible for underwriting new loan requests and managing the ongoing health of the commercial portfolio through thorough analysis and annual reviews.
This is not a management role, but it is a position of influence. You will be a trusted resource to Commercial Business Officers and a go-to expert when complex credits arise. Your work will directly support the credit union’s commercial growth while ensuring disciplined risk management.
What You’ll Do
- Underwrite commercial loan requests and prepare comprehensive credit analysis for new originations
- Perform detailed annual reviews and ongoing portfolio monitoring
- Maintain organized, accurate, and compliant credit files
- Analyze borrower performance, covenant compliance, and emerging credit risks
- Partner with Commercial Business Officers to structure and evaluate complex credits
- Identify and help resolve problem loans through thoughtful mitigation strategies
- Contribute to initiatives that improve commercial lending processes and portfolio performance
- Support a culture of efficiency, growth, and exceptional member service
What You Bring
- Proven experience managing and analyzing high-volume commercial loan portfolios
- Strong expertise in commercial underwriting, credit structuring, and risk analysis
- Experience working with complex commercial credits, including real estate and operating companies
