Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and hands-on Dock Supervisor with strong WMS experience and warehouse startup or build-out exposure. This role will oversee inbound and outbound dock operations while helping establish, refine, and scale warehouse processes. The ideal candidate brings grit, adaptability, and the ability to lead through change in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
This role requires flexibility. Standardized hours should not be expected, as operational demand may shift based on volume, staffing, and business needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee daily dock operations including inbound receiving, outbound shipments, staging, and load coordination.
- Support the setup and optimization of warehouse operations, layouts, workflows, and dock processes in a growing environment.
- Lead teams through WMS-driven receiving, transfers, and shipping activities, ensuring accuracy and system compliance.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Coordinate labor and dock activity based on real-time operational demand rather than fixed schedules.
- Monitor dock productivity, throughput, and accuracy, addressing bottlenecks and inefficiencies as they arise.
- Partner with leadership to build, refine, and document standard operating procedures as operations mature.
- Supervise, coach, and hold team members accountable in a high-expectation environment.
- Respond quickly to operational challenges including late arrivals, staffing gaps, equipment issues, and volume spikes.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and accountability across dock operations.
Train team members on receiving procedures, WMS usage and safety protocols.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3 or more years of experience in dock supervision, warehouse operations, or distribution leadership.
- Hands-on experience with WMS platforms and RF scanning in an active dock environment.
- Previous experience supporting a warehouse startup, expansion, or major operational transition.
- Forklift experience required; certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of inbound and outbound dock workflows.
- Ability to operate effectively in environments without fixed schedules or standardized hours.
- Proven ability to lead teams through change, ambiguity, and high operational pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant hands-on experience may substitute for formal education requirements.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
Who You Are:
- Gritty, hands-on, and not afraid to step in when the operation demands it.
- Comfortable building structure where none exists yet.
- Calm, decisive, and resourceful under pressure.
- A leader who earns respect through action, not just direction.
- Adaptable and flexible, understanding that warehouse operations don’t always fit a fixed schedule.
- Focused on results, safety, and continuous improvement.
