To complete the supplemental questions please go to CAPPS Recruit to register or login and access your profile: CAPPS Recruit General Description: Provide mentorship, training, and technical assistance to staff in the DVOP/CODL classification. Monitor and mentor staff in the development of their roles through the on-boarding process, continued development phase, and their ongoing career with the Texas Veterans Commission. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of training and recommends staff performance improvement as needed. Coordinate with the District Manager and District Supervisor concerning areas of staff development, staff performance, and implementation of new roles and responsibilities. To promote a strong environment, TVC maintains a telework policy. Telework is decided by the division and contingent on performance. Telework is not a contract of employment and if granted may be terminated at any time and for any reason without notice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide staff development in the DVOP/CODL classification.Mentor staff in the areas of DVOP/CODL functions such as Case Management, Employment Plans, Veteran Outreach, Veteran Case Management System, Employer Outreach etc.Serves as the Subject Matter Expert for the development of District Training, to include the development of class materials.Serves as an integral part of the training of new staff, and certifier for the 30, 60, 90-day training requirements.Provide Individualized Career Services to eligible Veterans or eligible persons.Create and develop Individualized Employment Plans.Review and analyze Veteran qualifications to ensure they meet the requirements for employers job opportunities. May conduct outreach to employers to facilitate the hiring of Veterans or eligible persons.Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft office, and internet research.Assist staff in the development of materials such as Workforce partner training, development of action steps, Labor Market Information, Workshops, etc.Assist staff in the development of their proficiency with the Work in Texas System (WIT).Serves as a facilitator during District and Program Training Events.Must be willing to work hours other than 8 to 5 including nights and weekends.Perform other duties as assigned. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-by-year basis. Minimum Experience: At least 1 year experience as a DVOP/CODL with Veterans Employment Services. Applicants must be of the same classification (DVOP/CODL) as the position applying for with an elevated level of performance and proven success. NOTE: Applicants must be a Veteran who served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days and was discharged/released with honorable, under honorable conditions, or general (under honorable conditions); OR a Veteran who was discharged/released from active duty because of a service-connected disability. To demonstrate qualification, a DD form 214 (member 1 copy not acceptable), NA Form 13038, or a VA Summary Benefits Letter must be attached to the application or provided prior to an interview being extended. Additional Requirements: A valid Texas Drivers License must be provided within 90 days of hire. Preferred Experience and Qualification: Two years as a DVOP/CODL with Veterans Employment Services. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of English language enough to compose correspondence, summarize information and write case narratives. Knowledge of counseling techniques, assessments, career planning, and interviewing techniques.Knowledge of community resources and supportive services. Knowledge of functions and services provided in the American Job Centers.Knowledge of Qualifying Employment Barriers and the Case Management Process.Skills in developing and presenting training materials.Skills in the operation of computers and in applicable computer software.Ability to assess Veteran needs and to coordinate Veteran services. Ability to organize, monitor, document, and follow-up with case managed clients.Ability to consistently present a professional image to customers, the public and co-workers.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to train others individually, in small groups, or large audiences. Environmental and Physical Conditions: Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
