Job Summary
The Donation Attendant is responsible for greeting donors, accepting donations, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized donation area. This role plays a key part in supporting store production goals by ensuring donations are processed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet all donors promptly, professionally, and with a positive attitude.
- Safely unload donations from vehicles using proper lifting techniques.
- Sort donations into correct categories (textile, hard goods, electronics, etc.).
- Identify quality issues and follow company guidelines for discarding unsellable items.
- Tag and move donations to the appropriate staging or production areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized donation dock and surrounding areas.
- Follow all safety policies, including handling large items, sharp objects, chemicals, and waste.
- Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or incidents immediately.
- Ensure dock doors, donation bins, and equipment are secured when not in use.
- Assist with donation flow to production to ensure steady work for processors.
- Help with light janitorial tasks around the dock and donation area.
- Communicate donation volume trends or quality concerns to management.
- Support store team members as needed during high-volume periods.
- Offer assistance unloading donations and provide receipts as needed.
- Ensure donors understand what items are accepted and not accepted.
- Represent the company’s mission and values through exceptional service.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent physical activity.
- Basic sorting, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions, policies, and safety guidelines.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including outdoor donation areas.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holiday
