Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.
- Provides patient services under the supervision and responsibility of a Doctor of Medicine or osteopathy.
- Develop plans of care with the supervising physician, as appropriate, and implement plans while treating patients.
- Determines need for specialized medical testing for diagnosis or treatment; Orders
tests appropriately. - Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding a plan of care, problems, and other health care issues.
- Practice independently, managing previously diagnosed and undiagnosed patients.
- Provides the full spectrum of health care services, including health prevention, disease prevention, health protection, anticipatory guidance and counseling, and
disease management, palliative care. - Orders and interprets labs and diagnostic tests, such as X-ray, electrocardiogram,
and laboratory test results for deviations from normal. - Prescribes medication within the scope of practice. Manage patients' and families' health/illness status over time.
- Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
