Texas Steel is a Structural Steel Fabricator located in Gainesville, Texas. We are growing and in need of an experienced Project Manager. Previous experience is a must. Most travel would be just within the DFW area, but there could be instances where further travel would be needed.
Job Summary
The Project Manager leads project execution for steel fabrication projects from contract execution through closeout. You will coordinate buy-outs, fabrication scheduling, subcontractors, quality control, safety, and client communication to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification.
Duties
- Oversee fabrication schedule and field activities for steel structures and related trades.
- Manage field construction schedule, sequencing, and resource allocation; track progress and report variances.
- Coordinate with Estimators, Shop Foremen, Fabrication, Logistics, and Project Engineering for fit-up, deliveries, and QC.
- Supervise subcontractors and field crews; assign work, monitor productivity, enforce quality standards.
- Enforce and promote site safety; conduct toolbox talks, ensure compliance with company and OSHA requirements.
- Interpret drawings and specifications; issue RFIs and coordinate resolution of field technical issues.
- Perform site inspections, track punch lists, and manage project closeout documentation (as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals).
- Manage change orders, daily reports, material tracking, and site cost control.
- Maintain client relations and present regular progress updates.
Qualifications
- 5 years field construction/project management experience in steel fabrication/erection or structural steel trades.
- Proven experience managing erection crews, subcontractors, and multi-discipline sites.
- Working knowledge of structural drawings, fabrication details, bolting/welding practices, rigging, and lifting plans.
- Strong scheduling, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with project documentation (daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change orders).
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel and work extended hours as projects require.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent preferred; NCCCO, AISC, or MSHA certifications a plus.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required;
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, climb scaffolding/ladders, and perform site inspections on uneven terrain.
- Must be able to lift moderate weight when required.
