Required Qualifications:
- Professional experience in basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pool mechanical and chemical systems.
- Experienced in reading and understanding diagrams, simple blueprints, and instructions.
- Competent to perform intermediate math.
- Competent to write and complete work orders, request material/parts, make reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two year’s experience in aquatic management/pool operations, or a facilities maintenance background.
- Certified Pool Operator certification.
- Experience in pool, recreation facility, residence hall or hotel maintenance
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Experience with MS office
Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Worker II will be responsible for providing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance repair work on university facilities and equipment overseen by Campus Recreation.
Job Duties
Facility Maintenance and Repair: 50%
- Repair, replace, and maintain existing fixtures, structures, equipment, and systems
- Identify, procure, and maintain parts, equipment and building inventory
- Inspect buildings and equipment and perform preventative maintenance and repairs
- Perform basic HVAC inspections and filter change
- Provide updates regarding repairs and issues
- Record all daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance procedures
Pool Maintenance and Repair: 20%
- Conduct and record water chemistry tests; track and record chemical use.
- Maintaining proper water chemistry and balance as well as preventative maintenance.
- Assist with training aquatic staff on routine pool maintenance duties.
- Respond to pump room emergencies
- Troubleshoot and repair all pool mechanical systems and make minor repairs to deck equipment.
- Fabricate parts or components to meet special situations
- Install new appliances or equipment
Administration and Budget Management: 15%
- Work with Assistant Director in the completion of overall area budget
- Use budget forecasting models to project future payroll, equipment, operating expenses, and revenue. Monitor income and expenses
- Purchase equipment and supplies
- Coordinate workloads and projects with others
Risk Management and Safety: 10%
- Ensure compliance of staff with industry standard safety and risk management practices, facility and equipment inspections, and established Campus Recreation policies and procedures
- Responsible for implementing all local, state, national university safety regulations
Other Duties: 5%
- Actively participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department.
- Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
- This position requires a flexible work schedule which at times will require frequent attendance during evenings and weekends.
- Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
