Role Description The Coordinator, Fitness & Wellness is a full-time, on-site role based in San Marcos, TX, responsible for overseeing fitness and wellness programs within Campus Recreation. This role coordinates group exercise schedules, supervises fitness instructors, and ensures high-quality, inclusive programming that meets diverse participant needs. The coordinator manages day-to-day operations of fitness spaces, including equipment oversight, safety standards, and participant engagement. Responsibilities include developing and implementing wellness initiatives, collaborating with campus partners, and promoting programs through outreach and education. Qualifications
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in Group Exercise and Fitness Instruction, including leading or supervising classes and instructors.
- Understanding of the Fitness Industry and Exercise Physiology to design safe, effective, and inclusive fitness and wellness programs.
- Strong Customer Service skills with the ability to engage participants, respond to concerns, and foster a welcoming environment.
- Experience coordinating fitness or recreation programs, preferably in a collegiate or community recreation setting.
- Ability to train, mentor, and supervise student staff and part-time instructors.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, with attention to detail and safety protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Health Promotion, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Relevant fitness or group exercise certification (e.g., ACE, ACSM, NASM, AFAA) or the ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, to support program needs and special events.
