Texas Southern has two flow-through agreements with both United Airlines Aviate and Southwest Airlines Destination 225. The university recently purchased twelve new air-conditioned Cirrus SR20 aircraft. TSU is planning to add a 2025 Diamond DA-42 next spring.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Chief Pilot at Texas Southern University. The Assistant Chief Pilot will be responsible for overseeing daily flight operations, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, managing flight crew schedules, and maintaining aircraft safety. Additionally, the Assistant Chief Pilot will provide classroom teaching, training and guidance to student pilots and assist in the development of aviation curriculum. The safety and wellness of our flight students are a keen focus.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a pilot, preferably with experience in flight instruction
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and aviation safety procedures
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience in managing flight crew schedules and coordinating flight operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic aviation environment
- Master's Degree in Aviation or related field
- FAA certifications, such as Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) or Certified Flight Instructor (CFII), are highly desirable
- Experience with flight simulator training is a plus
