Responsibilities

• Install, test, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including security alarms, CCTV surveillance, sensors, fire alarm systems, and access control devices.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system design documents to accurately execute installations and repairs.
• Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues with computer networking equipment, telecommunication lines, and computer hardware components.
• Perform cabling tasks using power tools and hand tools to ensure secure and compliant wiring for security systems and communication networks.
• Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate low voltage infrastructure seamlessly into the project scope.
• Utilize remote access software to monitor system performance remotely and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
• Maintain detailed records of all service activities, system configurations, and repairs for future reference and compliance purposes.

Experience

• Proven experience as a service technician or electrician specializing in low voltage systems such as security alarms, CCTV surveillance, sensors, fire alarms, or telecommunication networks.
• Strong knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards related to low voltage wiring and electrical safety practices.
• Hands-on experience with schematics reading, system design principles, and installation techniques for security and surveillance systems.
• Familiarity with computer networking concepts including cabling standards, remote access software, and network troubleshooting.
• Mechanical knowledge related to power tools usage, construction practices, and system integration processes.
• Prior experience working in field service environments with a focus on customer service excellence is highly desirable.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately while adhering to safety protocols. • Texas Security & Sound is seeking experienced Low Voltage Technicians/Electricians to join a small team focused on commercial building projects. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3 years in low voltage systems, particularly with Cat 5 and Cat 6 cable installation, and be proficient in blueprint reading and scissor lift operation. This role requires efficient, neat cable running and termination, with adherence to safety protocols. Candidates must work night shifts and be willing to travel within a 4-hour drive radius, supporting multiple Texas locations.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling accurately and efficiently
• Read and interpret blueprints to guide installations
• Operate scissor lifts and other equipment safely
• Comply with all safety regulations and wear PPE consistently
• Work night shifts from 9:30pm to 6:30am, Sunday through Thursday
• Travel to job sites within San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and surrounding areas
• Maintain worksite cleanliness and organize tools
• Use paper logs and mobile apps for job tracking and reporting
• Participate in on-the-job training to enhance skills

Required Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in low voltage systems
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experienced in Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling
• Proficient in blueprint interpretation
• Skilled in scissor lift operation
• Knowledgeable in use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Attention to detail and teamwork capabilities
