Role Description
Title: Contract Painter (1099)
Location: Terrell / Rockwall County, TX (travel to nearby suburbs)
Type: Contract labor (1099) — project-based; flexible schedule; nights/weekends available (closed Sundays).
You’ll perform full-scope interior and exterior painting and wood staining. Work includes surface prep, application by brush/roller/sprayer, texture matching, and trim installation/finishing. This role calls for a pro who delivers high-quality results, communicates clearly on site, and maintains safety and cleanliness from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface prep & protection: clean, mask, scrape, sand, patch, prime; protect floors/fixtures/landscaping
- Application: apply paints, stains, and clear coats via brush, roller, and airless sprayer; select tips, set pressure, and back-roll as needed
- Interior & exterior work: walls, ceilings, doors/frames, trim/baseboards/cabinets; siding (Hardie/brick/stucco), fascia/soffits, railings
- Staining (vertical/horizontal): fence, deck, pergola (spray back-brush; no caulking on fences)
- Texture & repairs: match orange peel/knockdown; light drywall repair, skim/feather, spot-prime
- Trim/light carpentry: install/repair base, casing, crown, door frames to support finish quality
- Plans/specs: read finish schedules/blueprints; confirm colors, sheens, and sequencing
- Quality & safety: punch-list closeout; follow ladder/PPE/OSHA practices; keep a clean, organized site
Qualifications
- Proven residential/commercial experience in interior & exterior painting
- Knowledge of paint types (latex, oil/alkyd, enamel, masonry, stains/sealers) and when to use each
- Mastery of sanding, brushing, rolling, and airless sprayer setup/operation
- Texture matching (orange peel/knockdown) and trim installation/finish skills
- Ability to read blueprints/finish schedules and follow scopes/specs
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and jobsite communication
- Own tools is a major plus; reliable transportation required
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders up to 28 ft; work in varied conditions
- Ability to work in all weather environments including heat and cold.
Contract Details
- 1099 contract labor (not a W-2 position)
- Paid per hourly rate ($22.56/27.00/hr) depending on scope and experience
- Flexible, project-based scheduling; prompt payment upon completion & sign-off
- Must provide W-9; adhere to company safety/quality standards
