Job Summary and Qualifications
What you will do in this role:
- Displays sensitivity to the needs of the patients and other co-workers.
- Demonstrates responsiveness to physicians, families, co-workers and visitors in a timely manner.
- Necessitates coordination of hand-eye and manual dexterity sufficient to competently operate a keyboard, telephone and two-way radio dispatch.
- Refers to the hospital directory to ascertain station numbers of persons called and manipulates associated keys to relay calls appropriately using proper words and phrases 100% of the time (see 5a below)
- Responsible for handling hospital-wide telephone communications in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Maintains the patient locator file in a current status at all times based upon information furnished by the Admitting Office.
- Informs Telephone Company, or hospital maintenance personnel of equipment malfunction, maintenance and repair requirements as reported to the switchboard.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of the Inpatient Services.
- Utilizes basic knowledge of equipment used in performance of position responsibilities.
- Monitors equipment for optimum effectiveness by reporting any problems with equipment to the Director of the Inpatient Services.
- Determines appropriate priorities for activities based upon work demands.
- Maintains professional growth through appropriate Inservice programs and other related education.
- Actively participates in hospital and departmental committees and group meetings with a focus on providing input regarding improving the quality of services in the facility.
- Ensures that problems or concerns regarding the Patient Care Unit, other related areas, and Texas Orthopedic Hospital are communicated with the Director of Inpatient Services , CNO or CEO.
What qualifications you will need:
- Minimum one year PBX experience preferred
- Excellent language and customer service skills required. Ability to speak and understand Spanish preferred
