Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory or designee, provides clinical laboratory services and monitors point of care (POC) testing accuracy of patients in accordance with accepted practices and Departmental and Hospital standards of care. Qualifications must also satisfy the requirements of federal and state law and regulation.

What you will do in this role :

  • Assists in data collection for statistical surveys or other reports generated by the Department.
  • Participates in quality control and performance improvement activities within the Department.
  • Maintains high degree of competency in the operation of all equipment in the performance of clinical laboratory testing to include trouble-shooting and minor repair.
  • Facilitates communication between the Laboratory and members of the Medical Staff and other Hospital Departments to enhance patient care services.
  • Coordinates clinical laboratory service scheduling with applicable Hospital Departments and Medical Staff for maximum utilization of resources and maintenance of quality care.
  • Remains after shift hours at the request of supervisor to complete work.
  • Is available to cover shifts outside of regular schedule upon request.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Laboratory.
  • Assists in review of I-Stat and Accudata Beside Glucose results for accuracy.
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge of clinical laboratory principles in the provision of diagnostic services.
  • What qualifications you will need :

  • Previous experience in hospital clinical laboratory preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science or chemical, physical, or biological science
  • Registered as a MT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred
