What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at TEXAS METER & DEVICE COMPANY LLC?
Overview
This position is a full time, temporary position expected to end in July 2026. The driver will operate a 1-ton pickup pulling an 8 foot trailer. The driver will drive around neighborhoods where coworkers are replacing water meters and will pick up buckets of dirt from the technicians and dump them into the trailer. When the trailer is full, the driver will take the trailer to the dump site and dump the dirt and return to the neighborhood to start again. When no pick ups are needed, the driver will also help with general labor and digging for water meter replacement as needed. CDL is NOT required. An excellent driving record with experience pulling a trailer is required.
Duties
- Safely operate company 1 ton pick up truck while pulling a trailer.
- Load and unload freight accurately, ensuring proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Drive assigned routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in driving a truck while pulling a trailer.
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent driving record.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or hand tools.
- Knowledge of route driving best practices and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail for vehicle inspections and documentation accuracy.
- Physical ability to handle cargo loads and perform routine vehicle checks.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary.
