TEXAS LEHIGH CEMENT COMPANY LP - BUDA, TX
$30 - $33/hr. based on experience
Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Quality Coordinator the Lab Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tests on produced product at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis and physical testing on cement, clinker, and raw materials.
- Performs work according to specification sheets and forwards to supervisors and managers as necessary.
- Responsible for verifying that product complies with ASTM testing standards and quality control specifications.
- Always adhere to all MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Meet or exceed Company safety standards.
- Understand and communicate when there are gaps in quality.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate with all departments at all levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts (4x4), overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Have flexibility in work schedule changes as required to meet production demand.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other technical related software.
- Ability to work outdoors in demanding physical conditions including walking over rough and uneven surfaces, climbing ladders up to 20 feet and stairs, bending, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions, working in confined spaces, lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds frequently. 75 pounds occasionally, and 100 pounds rarely.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE that could include Steel Toe Boots/Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, and Respirators.
- Ability to pass required background checks, physical examination, and drug screening
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in applied science or related field preferred.
- Industry experience of not less than 3 years will be considered in lieu of degree.
Working Conditions:
- Regular exposure to dust, loud noise, heat, dirt, and all-weather conditions
- Work at elevated heights up to 225 feet
- Operating mobile equipment may involve jarring motions and vibratory exposure
