Electrical Estimator

Position Summary

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial electrical projects. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and profitable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial electrical projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform material and labor takeoffs.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Prepare bid proposals and submit bids before deadlines.
• Identify potential project risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain estimating files and historical cost data.
• Communicate with project managers during project turnover.
• Attend pre-bid meetings when necessary.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and customers.

Preffered Qualifications

• 3 years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications.
• Experience with estimating software (McCormick, or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Skills

• Experience estimating restaurants, retail, tenant finish-outs, or commercial remodels (for electrical trade).
• Knowledge of value engineering.
• Ability to identify scope gaps and exclusions.
• Experience working with general contractors and developers.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
