Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Communications Director located in Texas. The Communications Director will manage strategic communication initiatives for a Member of the Texas House of Representatives, ensuring consistent and effective messaging. Key responsibilities include drafting speeches, press releases, and public statements, managing media relations, overseeing social media platforms, and developing communication campaigns to inform and engage constituents. The role also includes managing public appearances, coordinating press coverage, and collaborating with legislative staff to align messaging with policy objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Expertise in media relations, press releases, and speechwriting
- Experience in social media management and digital communication strategies
- Skills in developing and implementing effective communication campaigns
- SPANISH PROFICENCY PREFERRED
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Strong understanding of legislative processes and public policy issues
- Experience in working with elected officials or government entities is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field
