Quality: Active participation in Perinatal QAPI Programs. Assists with data collection, submission of regulatory measures, tracking and reporting of stats (Texas AIM, etc.). Works to establish written guidelines or protocols for prevention, early identification, early diagnosis, and therapy for various conditions. Critically appraises and researches data. Periodic review and revision for all maternal care policies and procedures.
Leadership: Serves as the program manager for Maternal Levels of Care Designation. Provides leadership and vision for the program. Monitors the provision of maternal patient care services from admission, stabilization, operative intervention(s) if applicable, through discharge, inclusive of the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement QAPI Program. Manages the day-to-day activities of the programs to ensure their efficient operations. Maintains detailed documentation of Program activities as specified in level of care rules and ensures all criteria are met. Contributes to strategic planning, leads and directs achievement in the provision of quality care to identified population. Maintains professional communication with all members of the multidisciplinary Neonatal/Perinatal team.
Data Collection and Program Compliance: Critically appraises data and implements findings in patient care decisions. Ensures perinatal data integrity through clinical review and verification of the medical record. Develop and maintain a written plan of the maternal programs that includes a detailed description of the scope of services available to all neonatal patients. Works with unit managers and staff for levels of care designation survey readiness.
Community Partnerships: Active participant in local, state, regional organizations. Provide outreach to community as needed. Attends RAC meetings. Provides referrals for follow-up in community. Acts as liaison for Emergency Medical Service Agencies. Represents the service line at hospital-wide councils. Participates in outreach activities that contribute to our hospital and unit-based mission.
Education: Collaborate with Medical Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine (if applicable), Maternal Medical Director and Department Director. Regular meetings with Nurse Managers and Educators for the Division. Serves as a resource to staff and is subject matter expert. Identify relevant areas for nursing research an assist in development of annual competencies. Active in professional organization and maintains certifications as required for job role.
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing Required
- Masters Degree of Nursing Preferred
- RN License
- BCLS, NRP, ACLS Required
- 3-5 years of Perinatal Nursing experience required
