Position Summary

The Child Pending Placement (CPP) Technician supervises and interacts with children and youth while they are waiting for safe placement. This position will attend to the safety, health, and well-being of children and youth in a trauma informed manner and environment. The CPP Technician will assist meeting the supervision needs of assigned children and youth during flexible hours and shifts required by the program’s schedule.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Building Positive Relationships with Youth
    • To build and maintain positive relationships with youth, the CPP Technician (1) conveys a genuine interest and concern for youth in their care (2) develops rapport, listens, and engages youth in daily interaction (3) participates with youth in recreational and other daily activities (4) is available and approachable to youth (5) observes and attends to youths’ needs (6) demonstrates flexibility, fairness and consistency in setting rules and guidelines.
  • Safety & Well-being
    • To assure that each young person’s health, safety and well-being is guaranteed, the CPP Technician will (1) provide direct supervision of youth as required by individual, program and/or regulatory requirements (2) respond to and communicate routine and emergency health care issues to necessary treatment team members (3) assess and respond to dangerous situations and conditions per organization policies and program expectations (4) consider the youths’ emotional, psychological and physical well-being when engaging in activities or interventions. The CPP Technician will monitor and document to ensure dosage timelines are met.
  • Professional Development and Training
    • To assure consistent and continuous professional development and training, the CPP Technician will (1) complete all training requirements as identified (2) participate in ongoing professional development in-service trainings (3) participate in clinical supervision; (4) complete the minimum number of annual professional development training hours in accordance with regulatory guidelines (5) achieve professional development goals as identified in performance evaluations.
  • Documentation and Record keeping
    • To assure proper documentation and record keeping the CPP Technician will (1) complete all required paperwork (2) complete written work that is legible, accurate and uses professional language (3) meet timelines for submitting paperwork established by the program and organization. (4) use written documentation to communicate effectively with peers, subordinates, and supervisors.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education/Credentials:
    • CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention Training & Emergency Behavior Intervention
    • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Clearances: State Police, FBI, and Child Abuse Clearances; CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training per state regulation.

Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands: Requires vision, speech, and hearing and a moderate to high level of physical activity including: sitting, standing, walking lifting and carrying as required. Must be able to meet demands and complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA) and Crisis Intervention & Prevention (CIP).
  • Environmental Factors: Office; Travel to various Texas Family Care Network service locations.
  • Working Hours: Variable schedule based on program need. Might include overnight/weekend shift work.


Experience

Required
  • 1 year(s): Experience working with children or youth that have experienced trauma.

Education

Required
  • High School or better
