Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office procedures, excellent customer service skills, and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision health.
Duties
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and ensuring they are comfortable.
- Perform preliminary tests, including visual acuity assessments, tonometry, and refraction.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
- Manage inventory of optical supplies and assist with retail sales of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for patient documentation.
- Provide support in pediatric eye care by engaging with young patients in a friendly manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or retail sales environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical records management and familiarity with HIPAA regulations is essential.
- Understanding of basic physiology related to eye care is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and staff.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Experience with electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, is a plus.
- A positive attitude towards learning new skills and adapting to new technologies.
