What are the responsibilities and job description for the Non-Profit Energy Project Manager position at Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute (TEPRI)?
TEPRI is seeking a Project Manager to manage a portfolio of energy projects and provide technical
support to stakeholders to develop and deploy aIordable, reliable, and clean energy solutions in
priority geographies. This role will help coordinate a major new initiative to advance energy
solutions, primarily for multifamily and rural communities in priority geographies of Texas. The ideal
candidate is mission-driven, will have exceptional project management skills, experience
convening and working with diIerent types of stakeholders, and experience with distributed energy
solutions such as energy eIiciency, solar/storage, and demand response. We are seeking
candidates with curiosity and a deep interest in making a positive impact at the intersection of
energy and poverty through demonstration projects
The ideal candidate is mission-driven, highly organized, and comfortable working independently in
a small team. You will manage multiple projects, coordinate with diverse stakeholders, contribute
to research and analysis, and support TEPRI’s broader programs.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management (~50%)
• Manage and advise on a portfolio of stakeholder driven energy innovation projects, primary
for multifamily and rural communities in priority geographies.
• Along with providing technical assistance to the jurisdictions, the Manager is responsible
for tracking and managing the funding, developing metrics for success, and reporting on
program progress.
• Manage project portfolio, teams, budgets, timelines, and reporting.
• Convene and support stakeholder driven advisory group.
• Oversee contracts and ensure alignment with TEPRI’s mission.
• Support research, evaluation, and demonstration of new energy solutions.
• Develop financing strategies and funding pathways to bring projects to fruition.
• Communicate project outcomes to stakeholders and the public.
Program Support (~40%)
• Collaborate on other managers’ project portfolios.
• Assist in writing reports, research papers, and publications.
Organizational Support (≈10%)
• Support community engagement, communications, and social media.
• Contribute to grant writing and fundraising eIorts.
• Represent TEPRI in relevant industry committees and networks.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Master’s degree 3 years professional experience, Bachelor’s or Associates Degree 5
years.
• Experience in project management, research, and program development in energy, public
sector, or nonprofit settings.
• Experience working in a team environment, alternating between team player and team lead.
• Experience with a mix of private and public sector, project-based environments including
project development, university research, consulting, or professional services preferred.
Skilled in adapting communication for diverse stakeholders.
Skills & Abilities
• Strong project management: planning, execution, budgeting. monitoring, and reporting.
• Knowledge of energy solutions and programs, particularly relevant to low-to- moderate
income stakeholders in multifamily and rural settings.
• Knowledge of Texas energy markets, utilities, and regulatory processes (ERCOT, PUC).
• Experience and comfort with the technical aspects of energy systems, such as energy
eIiciency, heat pumps, batteries, solar arrays, transmission and distribution systems.
• Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and adapt to evolving opportunities.
• Strong relationship-building skills with diverse communities, partners, and stakeholders.
• Financial analysis and project budgeting skills; ability to design funding strategies.
• Grant writing or contracting experience, with experience reporting to a funder or client.
• Clear, engaging communication of complex technical concepts.
• Creative, flexible, and resilient in a mission-driven environment.
• Management experience is a plus.
