What you will do as the Controller
Lead the accounting function with full responsibility for financial reporting, controls, and overall financial integrity of the credit union. This is a hands-on leadership role that works closely with senior leadership and plays an active part in financial planning and organizational performance.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements
- Present financial results, trends, and insights to senior leadership
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, and reconciliations
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Strengthen internal controls and maintain appropriate review and accountability structures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, including NCUA Call Reports
- Serve as the primary liaison for auditors, regulators, and examiners
- Lead, develop, and support the accounting team
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure appropriate review and accountability structures
- Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Lead Asset Liability Management (ALM) processes and interest rate risk analysis
- Oversee investment portfolio performance and provide recommendations
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions

What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Experience in a credit union, bank, or financial institution preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proven experience leading and developing staff
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
Preferred:
- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience working with executive leadership
- Familiarity with credit union systems such as Fiserv
