What you will do as the Controller

Lead the accounting function with full responsibility for financial reporting, controls, and overall financial integrity of the credit union. This is a hands-on leadership role that works closely with senior leadership and plays an active part in financial planning and organizational performance.


  • Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements
  • Present financial results, trends, and insights to senior leadership
  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, and reconciliations
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Strengthen internal controls and maintain appropriate review and accountability structures
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, including NCUA Call Reports
  • Serve as the primary liaison for auditors, regulators, and examiners
  • Lead, develop, and support the accounting team
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure appropriate review and accountability structures
  • Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
  • Lead Asset Liability Management (ALM) processes and interest rate risk analysis
  • Oversee investment portfolio performance and provide recommendations
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Experience in a credit union, bank, or financial institution preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proven experience leading and developing staff
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences


Preferred:

  • CPA or CMA designation
  • Experience working with executive leadership
  • Familiarity with credit union systems such as Fiserv
