Work involves reviewing policies, guidelines, procedures, rules and regulations, establishing priorities, standards, measurement tools and best practices. Exercises professional expertise in recommending, developing and implementing policy, procedures, staffing, and funding requirements to meet department and division goals. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. Work requires travel. Work requires contact with elected officials, other government agencies, high-level executives and private entities. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL DUTIESRecommends and implements policy and procedures for division activities.Manages professional and technical employees.Oversees, manages and coordinates motor carrier operations, including apportioned registration, commercial fleet programs and oversize and overweight permitting rules, regulations, policies and guidelines.Oversees implementation of programs and coordinates initiatives for business process improvements. (*Substitution available)Five (5) years of demonstrated and progressively responsible managerial experience.
