FUNCTION: The Community Supervision Officer is under the immediate supervision of the Deputy Director and Supervisor. The assignment of work requires the exercise of independent mature judgment in the supervision of the probationer. The Community Supervision Officer is to provide responsible casework services to persons serving terms of community supervision as outlined in the Departments Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Core Values.

Responsibilities
- Prepare pre-sentence investigation reports for the Courts as directed.
- Maintain case files as per department policies and procedures and Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Community Justice Assistance Division (TDCJ-CJAD) Standards: and CJAD Policy Statements.
- Include with maintenance of case policies is the proper administration and scoring of the Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS).
- Community Supervision Officers (CSOs) are certified to administer and score the TRAS through rules promulgated by TDCJ-CJAD. CSOs who are not certified or have failed to recertify shall not administer and score the TRAS.
- Utilize resources available locally and as available within the state.
- Supervise defendants serving terms of community supervision to insure compliance with the terms and conditions as ordered by the Court.
- Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director or Supervisor.
- Must have a bachelor's degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
- Meet all other requirements of the Standards for Community Supervision and Corrections Departments per the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Community Justice Assistance Division and this department.
