Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and handing necessary supplies
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform administrative tasks including answering multi-line phones with professional phone etiquette, managing front desk operations, and handling patient check-in/check-out processes
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims, and perform medical billing and coding using CPT and ICD coding standards for accurate documentation and reimbursement
- Maintain organized dental records, file documents appropriately, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Support medical collection efforts by following up on unpaid accounts and managing billing inquiries
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office or clinic environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical administrative procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms; experience with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management best practices to ensure patient confidentiality
- Ability to perform medical coding using CPT, ICD-9/10 codes for accurate billing and documentation review
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings; fluency in additional languages is advantageous
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and office management software
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with insurance verification and medical billing processes is essential
- Exceptional organizational skills to handle filing, scheduling, and multi-tasking in a busy front desk environment
- Demonstrated professionalism in phone etiquette and patient interactions; ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team
