Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major course work in business, public administration, or a related field, plus three years of full-time experience in a professional or technical capacity involving budget preparation or analysis.
OR
Four years of full-time experience in auditing, accounting, budget preparation, financial management, or statistical analysis; or other responsible analytical or professional work that provided a knowledge of programs, budget procedures, budget execution, budgetary and financial relationships with workloads of organizational elements organizational structure, and work processes of the organization.
OR
Registration as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public affairs, business administration, public administration, or a related field may be substituted for one year of the experience.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide highly complex support of the overall budget process for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Compile and maintain budgetary data and reports for use in management decisions, including extraction, summarization, and analysis of data from internal and external financial systems.
- Complete projects to include planning, organizing, coordinating, and close out of project activities, and determine work methods and priorities when serving as a lead.
- Compile and maintain budgetary data and/or reports for the use of management decisions.
- Develop and maintain procedures for routine tasks and projects. Review and evaluate proposed agency regulations, administrative actions, and proposed legislation; and prepare analyses of potential fiscal and operating implications.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in developing budgetary reports; and/or presenting budget forecasts, deviations, and/or problems to executive management.
- Training or experience in the use of Microsoft Access and/or Excel.
- Training or experience using Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) and/or Automated Budget and Evaluation System (ABEST) and/or Centralized Accounting and Payroll/ Personnel System (CAPPS) HR/ Payroll and/or Financials.
