Job Summary:
Performs advanced diagnostics, electrical work, engine repair, and complex drivability issues. Works independently on difficult jobs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues
- Perform advanced repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems
- Use diagnostic tools, scanners, and software to identify and resolve issues accurately
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Conduct thorough inspections and road tests to verify repairs
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer and safety standards
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Review and verify repair work when necessary
- Work closely with service advisors to communicate repair needs and timelines
- Help prioritize workflow and improve shop productivity
- Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics and repairs
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.
- 4–7 years experience
- Full tool set
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders.
- Must be 18 years or older
Education and Experience:
- Multiple ASE certifications (strongly preferred)
- 4–7 years experience
- OEM training (e.g., Toyota Motor Corporation, Ford Motor Company, General Motors programs)Hybrid/EV certification (increasingly valuable)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
- Good vision to inspect repair work.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Must be able to reach below and above shoulder level.
- Must comply with all safety requirements.
