Application Deadline:

Open until filled. Review of applications will begin November 17, 2025.

Position Details:

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The Department of Computer Science at Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions beginning in Fall 2026: (1) Assistant Professor and (2) Open-Rank Professor (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). As TCU advances toward Carnegie R1 status, we seek colleagues who will strengthen our department's research profile while contributing to our tradition of teaching excellence and student mentorship. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability—or, at the senior level, the established record—to lead impactful scholarship, secure external funding, and actively mentor students at all levels.

While applicants from all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply, areas of particular interest include: Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Digital Twin technologies.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by August 17, 2026.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching, with enthusiasm for mentoring students at all levels.
  • Demonstrated potential to develop and sustain an externally funded research program.
  • Interest in contributing to departmental growth, including the planned M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Computer Science.
Preferred:
  • Experience with proposal writing or evidence of external funding success.
  • Potential for national research recognition.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

For candidates at the Associate/Full Professor level:
  • Internationally recognized research record (sustained publications in top venues).
  • Evidence of external funding success (e.g., NSF, NIH, DOE, DoD), with potential for continued support.
  • Evidence of academic leadership (e.g., center direction, large-scale grants, mentoring junior faculty).

Department Details:

The Department of Computer Science offers a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere, a highly motivated student body, and cutting-edge facilities that support both teaching and research. The department has 7 tenure-track/tenured professors, approximately 281 undergraduate students, and is planning to launch a Ph.D. program in Computer Science in Fall 2027. There are many opportunities for collaboration within computer science and across a wide range of disciplines.

Our faculty are engaged in diverse research areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, and cybersecurity, and benefit from competitive startup packages, research computing resources, and robust grant support. The department maintains close relationships with industry partners in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, offering students strong internship and career opportunities while fostering applied research collaborations. We are committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarship, and we value faculty who are eager to contribute to a growing and ambitious program aligned with TCU's strategic vision.

School/College Description:

The TCU College of Science & Engineering (CSE) encompasses 10 departments (Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Nutritional Sciences, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology) as well the Ranch Management Program, which offers both an undergraduate degree and a one-year certificate program. The College is also home to the Pre-Health Professions Institute, the Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Development, the Institute of Behavioral Research, and the Institute for Ranch Management. The College is the second largest at TCU in terms of both undergraduate enrollment and number of majors. CSE contains a disproportionate percentage of high-achieving students, as evidenced by the fact that almost one-half of the students in the Honors College have majors in the College of Science & Engineering. Research opportunities abound for undergraduates, with 46 percent of majors engaging in a substantive experience during which they work one-on-one with their faculty mentor. The College also has five doctoral programs and 16 master’s programs as well as two graduate certificate programs. The College faculty are true teacher-scholars, for whom instruction and research are viewed as complementary activities.
