The Special Services Director will work under the management of the Regional Director. Responsibilities will include oversight of the day-to-day administrative operations for the Special Services teams, including Special Collections, Interstate Central Registry, and Field Services. The Special Services Director will work to establish goals and objectives; develop policies, review guidelines and procedures, establish priorities; evaluate activities and plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Function DescriptionPlans, directs, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and operational activities related to the business operations for the Special Services teams including Special Collections, Field Services, and Interstate Central RegistrySupervises all office personnel, including hiring, evaluating, counseling and trainingPlans and develops priorities and standards for achieving goalsMonitors the office budgetMonitors and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, policies, procedures and standards while providing excellent customer serviceResponds to inquiries and resolves issues from agency management, government officials, attorneys, parents, advocacy and community groups and other customersAssesses the validity of complaints against the IV-D program with impartialityPerforms related work as assignedMaintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functionsAttends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work scheduleEnsures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected informationComplies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from high school or equivalentEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: Child Support Program, governmentexperience, management, public administration, supervisory, or working in a Title IV-D programExperience: Eleven additional years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: Child Support Program, government experience, management, public administration, supervisory, or working in a Title IV-D programKnowledge of management principles and practicesKnowledge of processes involved in developing and implementing strategic plans, goals, performance measures andbudgetsSkill in collaboration and problem solvingSkill in using a computer for word-processing and data/entry retrieval including various computer hardware andsoftware applicationsSkill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlinesSkill in effective oral and written communicationSkill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision makingAbility to plan, organize, staff, supervise and evaluate staff and their work, all while promoting motivation, team building, and customer serviceAbility to receive and respond positively to constructive feedbackAbility to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environmentAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travelAbility to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSAAbility to lift and relocate 30 lbs.Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 25%PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Completion of Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Public Administration (MPA) orJuris Doctor (JD)Experience: Texas Child Support Program and managementOther Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish To apply for a job with the OAG, electronic applications can be submitted through CAPPS Recruit.
