The search will start immediately with an appointment in Spring, 2025. This selected candidate will be teaching a¾ course load (per main semester (Fall and Spring) with ¼ of the academic load devoted to support of the Institute for Rural Mental Health Initiatives (IRMHl). It is understood this position may need to provide an in-person, on-campus presence at least 10 hours per week (25%) for the support of the IRMHI and Director. SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered, candidates must have- An earned Doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited institution Eighteen (18) graduate hours from a regionally accredited institution or university for every field the applicant will teach Credentials sufficient to be an Assistant/Associate Professor at Texas A&M University Kingsville Texas Licensed Professional Counselor credentials or be license-eligible as an LPC counselor in the state of Texas At least three (3) years of experience working with rural populations and communities in a professional capacity. This can be a combination of rural mental health employment, rural mental health research, service provisions, local agency support, teaching rural mental health courses at the graduate level, rural school district support, etc. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have: Leadership abilities with a vision to develop and enhance programs in the department. Evidence of teaching excellence in the mental health counseling field. Experience and/or knowledge in teaching in a virtual delivery format. Teaching load:¾ with ¼ release for IRMHI support. Summer courses are provided, but no guarantee. There will be a one-course release for the Ist year (new faculty investment program) Ability and desire to address the educational needs of diverse and rural populations. Willingness to collaborate and sustain a collegial environment. Willingness to advise, mentor, and supervise master's students. Help the department build a strong program to be commensurate with the University's mission as a Hispanic-serving institution and address educational needs of diverse population. Collaborate with colleagues and sustain a collegial environment to fulfill the needs of the departments and colleges strategic goals and support the mission of the IRMHI. Exude leadership capacities with a vision to develop and enhance programs in the department. Actively participate in service for the program, department, college, and university committees. Have evidence of teaching excellence in a virtual delivery format in counselor education. Credentials sufficient to be an Assistant/Associate Professor at Texas A&M University Kingsville. Commitment to establish and maintain a rigorous research agenda and pursue grant funding per the College of Education & Human Performance's Promotion and Tenure Guidelines. Commitment to attend required mandatory on-campus and virtual meetings each semester. A commitment to attend weekly on-campus meetings for the 1st year is required (due to the new faculty investment program) related to the University, college, department, and counseling program. Clearly posted office hours sufficient to support the needs of the graduate advisees and those who inquire about the program. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP & COUNSELING: The Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling is housed in the College of Education & Human Performance at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a Hispanic-serving institution. The department, with 11 full-time faculty, offers master's programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling and Guidance, Adult Education, Educational Administration, Instructional Technology, a doctoral program in Educational Leadership, and a transcripted certificate in Higher Educational Administration and Leadership. Within the Department, the Counseling Program offers Master of Science Degrees in the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited 100% online Clinical Mental Health Counseling (EDCM) and non-CACREP accredited 100% online Counseling and Guidance (EDCG). The program prepares students for Professional Counseling licensure and School Counseling certification. Approximately 120 graduate students are enrolled in the Counseling program with four core faculty and supportive adjuncts. The College of Education and Human Performance is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by the State Board for Educator Certification.
