The Texas A&M Forest Service is looking for a highly qualified, experienced manager for its seed orchard operations in East Texas. The Forestry Nursery Operations Coordinator will be housed at the Magnolia Springs Seed Orchard, near Kirbyville, TX. Responsibilities include supervision of three on-site Resource Specialists, management of all seed orchard operations, and coordination of activities at other locations with tree improvement staff in College Station, TX.
Applicants must possess bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, forestry or other related natural resource field. Additionally, applicants should possess exceptional personnel management, organization, leadership, and communication skills. Program operations and priorities vary by season.
Applicants must be willing to learn grafting and controlled pollination techniques. Additional knowledge and skills related to forest or orchard tree management are beneficial.
