Job Description

Purpose:

The Lab Technician will perform research in Prof. Arum Han lab, the NanoBio Systems Laboratory, a multidisciplinary lab featured in microbiology research integrated with microfluidics (website: http://nanobio.tamu.edu.)

The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in environmental microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and bioinformatics. The candidate is expected to work closely with lab members including postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform microbiological experiments in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory.
  • Work closely with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in the laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications For Technician I

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience

Minimum Qualifications For Technician II

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience .
  • Three years of related experience.

Minimum Qualifications For Technician III

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications For Technician IV

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience

The well-qualified candidates would possess the following:

  • Master’s degree in microbiology or related fields. Additional years of experience is preferred for bachelor’s degree holder.
  • Extensive experience in microbiology skills such as isolation and cultivation of bacterial strains, growth phenotype examination, molecular biology skills such as nucleic acid or protein extraction, electroporation etc.
  • Experience in handling cells (mammalian cells, microorganisms) in microsystems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong expertise in microbiology and molecular biology disciplines.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
