Job TitlePostdoctoral Research Associate - Climate-Smart Feed Management and Nutrient Modeling Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Animal Science Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Associate will support the Climate Smart Feed Management Committee by developing and disseminating science-based resources, integrating committee activities, and organizing summits. This role involves creating decision-support tools, building a website to provide educational materials, and linking feed composition and modeling efforts to assist conservation professionals, NRCS personnel, and other stakeholders in adopting climate-smart feeding practices. Help organize a topical summit focused on feed management and climate-smart agriculture, engaging stakeholders, including policymakers and academia. Job Responsibilities: The incumbent will collaborate with (1) developing a dedicated website to disseminate factsheets, white papers, reports, and decision-support tools for feed and nutrient management, targeting conservation professionals and producers. (2) Coordinate activities between the Feed Composition and Modeling Committees and contribute to projects such as COMET and RuFAS. (3) Assist in predicting the adequacy of diets to meet nutrient requirements using species models. (4) Engage with stakeholders to organize and conduct a topical feeding and nutrient management summit focusing on climate-smart agricultural practices. (5) Analyze data, review relevant literature, and contribute to preparing manuscripts and project reports. (6) Collaborate with producers, NRCS personnel, and other stakeholders to support the implementation of climate-smart feeding practices. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to developing educational outreach materials, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in grant writing. Required Education and Experience: PhD in animal science, soil and crop sciences, or a related field. Preferred Experience: Experience in feed management strategies, nutrient modeling, and precision livestock farming. Prior experience with outreach, website development, or organizing summits. Experience in website development and resource dissemination. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including ranchers and farmers Ability to travel as needed for on-farm trials. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication and publication record. Ability to multi-task and work both independently and cooperatively with others. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong computational and data analytics skills Modeling experience, linear or nonlinear programming for building ration formulation programs, and knowledge of particular programming languages. Ability to engage with a multidisciplinary team, NRCS personnel, and other conservation professionals.
