What are the responsibilities and job description for the Critical Facilities Technician position at Texas 5 Services?
· A Critical Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining, monitoring and performing preventative maintenance to ensure the continuous operation of all critical and non-critical data center infrastructure and systems.
· Including but not limited to HVAC, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, plumbing, emergency generators, hot water systems, chill water systems, fire suppression systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems.
· Electrical Systems include but not limited to lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, RDU, generators, switch gears.
· Monitor, adjust and maintain proper operating temperatures on the data floors to ensure an optimal environment for equipment.
· The ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures and malfunctions of various systems to determine the cause and take the proper corrective actions.
· Record data of various systems and adjusting as necessary.
· Manage preventative maintenance work orders, change management tickets, vendor related tickets etc.
· Ability to work independently and communicate and work effectively on a team of technicians to ensure a 24/7 availability to minimize risks.
· Learn and understand building automation systems (BAS) as a tool to manage equipment.
· Work alongside third-party contract vendors to complete job orders as needed while ensuring they are complying with facilities work rules and safety regulations.
· Complete rounds of the facility to ensure proper operation and grounds upkeep.
· On call availability for emergency support as needed.
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe PDF necessary for paperwork and records upkeep.
· A strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E
· Must have commercial electric experience (in a critical environment a Plus)
· Must be able to manage materials
· Must be able to pass drug test
· Must be able to follow safety rules and adhere to company policies
· Must be able to lift at least fifty pounds
· Must be able to work safely while on ladders
· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Project Management experience preferred
· Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times
· Must be able to size electrical circuits and wire.
· Must be able to troubleshoot all electrical starters, distribution paths and potential disruptions
· Must be able to pass drug test
· Must be able to follow safety rules and adhere to company policies
· Must be able to lift at least fifty pounds
· instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope
· Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
· Experienced in distribution and electrical installation, capacity management is a plus.
· Install or help install electrical components.
· Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
· Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender
· Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps
· Must be able to 12 hours shifts
· Must be able to work holidays and weekends if required
Critical Facilities Technician Job Requirements
Education & Experience
· High School Degree or GED equivalent
· Prior data center environment experience
· Technical training or equivalent experience
· 5-10 years of field experience
· Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, pick up minimum 50 lbs, pull, push.
· Able to work inside and out.
· Experience working in a data center environment
· ATS, RPP, PDU, UPS, battery maintenance experience
· Strong NEC code knowledge and Journeyman is a plus but not necessary
· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Project Management experience preferred
· Understands electrical circuitry diversity and concurrent maintainability
· Provided electrical repairs in an industrial and data center setting
· Experienced with MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical facilities / data center facility equipment

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
