Role Responsibilities
The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for the clinical oversight of the nursing staff in the outpatient behavioral healthcare clinics. Responsibilities include assisting with hiring of nursing staff, providing initial and ongoing training/staff development to nursing staff and medical assistants in the clinics and monitoring and evaluating nursing services to ensure compliance with the state Board of Nursing requirements, HHSC performance contract, Texas Administrative Code, Medicaid rules and Center procedures. In addition, the Nursing Coordinator manages coverage for the clinics, including providing coverage when the clinic nurses are out of the office (unplanned or scheduled absences.) Provides assistance to the delegating physician by participating in and performing patient care/support activities with the scope of their license. Provides direct supervision to the float, split and PRN nurses and medical assistants. Participates as a member of the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) representing nursing services. Assists in peer review activities. The position is based in Rosenberg but requires travel. The position is directly supervised by the Director of Behavioral Healthcare Services and is clinically supervised by the chair of the MEC and/or clinic physicians. The position will also perform other duties as requested by the Director of Behavioral Healthcare Services. Works effectively with a multi-disciplinary team within a multi-faceted mental health care delivery system. This position is 5 days per week Mon-Fri. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet program needs as requested by the Director of Behavioral Healthcare Services. Responsible and accountable for the adherence and promotion of the compliance program.
Salary
- 90% $30.44/year to start.
- 95% $32.14/year at 6 mos. with satisfactory performance
- 100% $33.83/year at 1 year with satisfactory performance
- Negotiable within this range based on experience.
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Graduate of accredited School of Vocational Nursing
- Licensed in the State of Texas or temporary license and must obtain permanent license within 6 months of hire and present documentation of application process to the State Nursing board for Texas.
- Compact license acceptable according to current Board of Nursing requirements.
- Texas driver’s license in good standing as defined by Texana Center’s procedure
- 5 years LVN nursing experience (not including clinical hours required for education)
- 5 years of mental health/behavioral health population experience
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Current SAMA certification
- Current CPR certification
- Experience in phlebotomy/EKG procedures
- Direct supervision
- Basic computer skills
- Spanish speaking
Job Related Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR.
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15-44#), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
- Qualified individual must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
