Position Summary:   Field-based role supporting projects throughout the State of Oklahoma

The Automation Technician will provide hands-on field support for industrial automation, instrumentation, PLC, and HMI systems. The role focuses on troubleshooting equipment and process-control issues, configuring and calibrating field devices, connecting to Allen-Bradley PLCs for diagnostics and minor program modifications, and using AVEVA InTouch to review tags and operating data during troubleshooting activities.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently at client sites, coordinating with operations and engineering personnel, documenting completed work, and traveling throughout Oklahoma as project needs require.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, electrical control, PLC, HMI, and communication issues at operating facilities.

·         Configure, calibrate, test, and verify field instrumentation and end devices, including pressure, flow, temperature, and level instruments; switches; control valves; and related signal circuits.

·         Connect to Allen-Bradley PLC systems to monitor logic, diagnose faults, force or test signals when authorized, and make minor program modifications in accordance with client procedures and change-control requirements.

·         Use AVEVA InTouch HMI applications to locate and review tags, alarms, trends, status indications, and process values in support of troubleshooting activities.

·         Perform loop checks, point-to-point checks, functional testing, startup support, and commissioning activities.

·         Diagnose 4-20 mA, discrete I/O, analog I/O, power-supply, wiring, grounding, and basic industrial network issues.

·         Read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, control narratives, and electrical schematics.

·         Coordinate with client operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to identify problems and restore equipment to service safely.

·         Document troubleshooting findings, calibration results, PLC or HMI changes, and completed field-service activities.

·         Follow site safety requirements, client standards, permit procedures, and Management of Change requirements.

·         Travel from the Oklahoma City area to client sites throughout Oklahoma, including occasional overnight assignments and after-hours support when required.

Required Technical Skills:

·         Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills for industrial automation and control systems.

·         Working knowledge of process instrumentation and the ability to configure and calibrate field devices using appropriate test equipment and device communicators.

·         Experience connecting to and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLC platforms using Rockwell Automation programming software.

·         Ability to understand existing PLC logic and safely complete minor logic, configuration, or I/O-related modifications within an approved scope.

·         Experience using AVEVA InTouch for tag lookup, alarm review, trend review, and troubleshooting support.

·         Understanding of analog and discrete signals, including 4-20 mA loops, 24 VDC control circuits, and common instrument wiring practices.

·         Basic knowledge of industrial communications such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP, and serial communications.

·         Ability to use digital multimeters, loop calibrators, pressure sources, and other instrumentation test equipment.

·         Ability to read technical drawings and accurately document field changes and test results.

·         Working knowledge of hazardous-area practices and safe work procedures for industrial facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Associate degree or technical certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Automation, Industrial Maintenance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and field experience.

·         Three or more years of hands-on automation, controls, instrumentation, or I&E field experience.

·         Experience supporting oil and gas, pipeline, water/wastewater, manufacturing, or other industrial facilities.

·         Familiarity with additional PLC, RTU, SCADA, or HMI platforms is a plus.

·         ISA, NCCER, Rockwell Automation, or other relevant technical certifications are a plus.

·         Valid driver license and ability to travel throughout Oklahoma.
