Role Description This full-time Estimator role is an on-site position based in Troy, MI. The Estimator will prepare cost estimates for engineering, testing, and consulting services by reviewing project plans, specifications, and related documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data, quantifying materials, labor, and equipment needs, and developing detailed proposals and budgets. The Estimator will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and technical staff to ensure estimates reflect accurate scope, schedule, and resource requirements. The role also involves updating and maintaining cost databases, assisting with bid preparation, and supporting client communications to clarify scope and pricing.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to construction, infrastructure, or environmental projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and general office productivity tools.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, project managers, and clients.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple estimates, deadlines, and project files.
- Relevant experience in construction, engineering consulting, or testing services; prior work with multidisciplinary teams is beneficial.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with local building codes, industry standards, and bidding processes is a plus.
