Position summary: The site coordinator shall be responsible for the daily operation of the program, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children enrolled and direct supervision of program staff. The site coordinator will oversee the development, administration, supervision, delivery and evaluation of the Out of School Time Program at their site in accordance with YMCA Guidelines and State Licensing Requirements.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • At their own site: Plan, supervise and implement a well-rounded, academically aligned curriculum  (including objectives, lesson plans and evaluation) for the site, i.e. project based learning, health and wellness activities, homework support
  • Develop, plan and supervise activities during school vacation weeks, and other days off from school.
  • Support planning and implementation of the Summer Learning Program Provide short and long term planning in accordance with the policies and philosophies of Out of School Time programming
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff, aid in staff training and conduct staff
  • Supervise site staff and provide written evaluation of their work performance Develop and oversee an individualized training plan for each staff person, in conjunction with the Director Responsible for supervising and demonstrating the ability to set and maintain limits for children using positive reinforcement
  • Create systems and processes when needed, particularly around staff coverage, data collection, recruitment and retention
  • Responsible for meeting monthly recruitment and budgetary goals for site
  • Responsible for collection of data and inputting into central data base, uses data for decision making and program improvement
  • Supervise proper maintenance of equipment, clean up of work and play areas and inventory and ordering of supplies and snacks
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents in OST and during school day by participating in PTO and family engagement activities
  • Plan and implement, with staff, monthly parent engagement activities
  • Maintain the necessary records involving attendance, proper release procedures, program registrations and documents required for state licensing; as well as collecting and maintaining records of all child care payments
  • Work closely with school personnel in coordination of the site, including transportation needs
  • Work in harmony and cooperation with all appropriate staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA Ensure that the proper procedures regarding vehicle use are followed at all times
  • Responsible for attending staff meetings/events.
  • Demonstrate and teach the character development values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
  • Continually enhance professional development through workshops, educational courses and/or appropriate reading material/
  • Licensing requires the completion of a minimum of 20 hours training per year relevant to the care of school age children  

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A. preferred and at least two years’ experience managing Out of School Time and Summer Learning programs with multiple staff
  • Excellent organizational skills: attention to detail, ability of prioritize, and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and prepare analytical reports
  • Exemplary writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit or educational sector a plus Ability to work as part of a team
  • Fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Expertise in data analysis and using data, broadly defined, to improve programs and instruction
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity; ability to inspire and manage others

Education and/or Experience:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a field relating to education, child development, human services or recreation from an accredited or approved institution of higher education; and have a minimum of one years' supervised experience working with school age children in a group setting (field placements and student teaching will be counted toward this requirement)

OR

  • Hold an Associate's degree in a field relating to education, child development, human services or recreation from an accredited or approved institution of higher education; and have a minimum of two years' supervised experience working with school age children in a group setting (field placements and student teaching will be counted toward this requirement).
