What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN)-CVICU position at Test New Server?
Our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit has an opening for a dedicated experienced Registered Nurse. This 24-bed, team-oriented unit cares for a variety of cardiac patients, including : post cardiac surgery, post percutaneous coronary intervention, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and cardiogenic shock. We also care for patients on intra- aortic balloon pump, continuous renal replacement therapy, and in the near future patients with ventricular assist devices. The CICU / CVCICU is a full service critical care monitored unit, which provides an opportunity to maintain and improve skills in the overall assessment and care of the critically ill patient. Our RN to patient ratios is 1 : 1, 1 : 2, and 1 : 3 depending on acuity and an average daily census of 17 patients.
Education : RN Diploma or above
License / Certifications : Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by American Heart Association. ACLS certified by the American Heart Association.
Experience : Previous critical care experience, basic arrhythmia proficiency and CCRN preferred.
Responsibilities :
Assess patient condition and initiate appropriate nursing and / or medical care in accordance with established guidelines and evidence-based practice.
Develop and update a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient and in congruence with the medical diagnosis and treatment plan.
Implement a plan of care and evaluate patient response to care and updates care plan.
Document assessment, plan and all care given and the patient response in the patient's record.
Delegate, direct and supervise implementation of care plan to Patient Care Technician or other health care workers.
Educate patients and families according to assessed needs and act as a liaison between members of the health care team, the patient and the patient's family.
Communicate significant information and changes in patient's condition to appropriate members of the health care team.
Assume the mentor role for new associates and students.
Participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of departmental quality improvement activities.
Perform nursing activities in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge and use of unit-specific equipment and appropriate supplies used in the delivery for the highest quality patient care.
Provide a safe environment for the patient and other caregivers.
Maintain knowledge of current trends in nursing and provides evidence of clinical competency.
Maintain professional standards by participating in mandatory in-services and hospital / departmental requirements.
Demonstrate knowledge and respect patient, service provider and organizational confidentiality procedures and protocols under the HIPAA Privacy Policies and following those procedures when using or disclosing protected health information.
