Metallurgical Engineer

Company Description Test Metals, a dba of Colorado Metallurgical Services, Inc., provides independent, third-party metals and materials testing and forensic metallurgical engineering services. The organization specializes in failure analysis, corrosion analysis, weld testing, nondestructive testing, and precision test specimen machining from its machine shop. Job Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct failure analysis investigations including gathering metallurgical data and operating testing equipment (Microscopes, SEM, OES, XRF, Hardness Testers, etc.)
• Prepare and examine metallographic specimens for optical microscopy
• Operate SEM for fracture assessment, EDS, etc.
• Report writing on root cause analyses for failures of metal components including fractures, corrosion, etc.
• Other duties and projects as assigned

Training and Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field
• Strong Computer Skills and Microsoft Office Proficient
• 3 years’ experience in laboratory or forensic setting
• Experience in operating various testing equipment related to machining operations or welding preferred
• Master's Degree and PE preferred
