What Will You Be Doing?

The Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of IT assets, ensuring accurate tracking, procurement, and configuration management through the CMDB. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance, optimizing costs, and supporting strategic IT initiatives. The Asset Manager will lead efforts to improve asset visibility, streamline procurement workflows, and ensure data integrity across systems.

Essential Functions

Asset Lifecycle Management

  •  Manage end-to-end lifecycle of IT assets (hardware and software), from acquisition to disposal.
  •  Maintain accurate asset records in the CMDB, ensuring completeness, consistency, and compliance with audit requirements.
  • Implement and oversee asset tagging, inventory tracking, and refresh cycles.

CMDB Oversight

  •  Lead CMDB implementation and maintenance, including onboarding of configuration items (CIs), service mapping, and automated discovery integrations.
  • Collaborate with ITOM and ServiceNow teams to enhance visibility and control of infrastructure dependencies.
  • Drive CMDB remediation projects to clean up inaccurate data and establish sustainable maintenance processes.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate IT procurement activities, including sourcing, RFx processes, and vendor evaluations.
  • Ensure alignment with budgetary goals and compliance standards.
  • Work with strategic sourcing to onboard professional services vendors and manage NDAs/MSAs.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Generate reports on asset utilization, compliance, and lifecycle status.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Monitor KPIs and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with IT, finance, cybersecurity, and operations teams to align asset management with

organizational goals.

  •  Mentor junior asset analysts and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for CMDB and asset management best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  •  5 years of experience in IT asset management, including CMDB and procurement.
  •  Strong knowledge of ServiceNow, ITIL processes, and asset discovery tools.
  •  Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  •  Experience with vendor negotiations and contract management.

Work Environment

Typical office environment, adequately heated and cooled, as well as warehouse work.

 Physical Effort

Position requires strenuous physical work.  Heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently.

General Supervision:  The incumbent performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures and receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.
