The Center for Applied Linguistics is seeking a research and development intern for the spring semester of 2026.
The intern will report to the Senior Research Assistant of the Multilingual Multimodal Science Inventory (M2-Si) Project. Learning objectives for the internship include: coordinating classroom observations; data cleaning, entry, and analysis; conducting research that contributes to a larger research project; and other research duties as assigned.
This is a paid internship opportunity, and the intern will be expected to contribute 20 hours per week for the duration of the spring semester. This is a virtual internship opportunity.
We Are Seeking Individuals Who
- Are currently enrolled in a bachelor-level program (master-level is a plus);
- Are eligible to work in the US;
- Can demonstrate strong background knowledge around assessment, science, and multilingual learner education
- Have strong communication, research, and organizational skills

CAL is located in Washington, D.C. For this position, the employee may choose to work in their preferred combination of in person at the D.C. office in a hoteling capacity, or remotely (up to 100% remote). This position is not open to candidates residing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, or the U.S. Territories.
