Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Primary Location: Taunton Salary: £100-£115 per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Start Date: September 2026 Please note: Applicants must provide proof of the right to work in the UK. About the Role Connex Education are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of primary schools in Taunton. Opportunities are available on a day-to-day supply basis, as well as short-term and long-term placements starting from September 2026. As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Responsibilities may include delivering planned lessons in the teacher’s absence, leading small group interventions, providing one-to-one support, and helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for pupils. Person Specification A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (commonly Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning)
HLTA status or willingness to work towards HLTA status
Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
Ability To Lead Whole-class Learning When Required
Good behaviour management and communication skills
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
Must hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
